Sarah Watson

I am a full-time economics/sociology/political science instructor at NTC. I’ve lived in Wausau for over two decades now. I started out my life, and am still, a Cub and Bear fan! I grew up in Galesburg, IL (which is close to the Iowa/Illinois border) and moved to Naperville IL (a suburb of Chicago) to pursue my undergraduate degree at North Central College (NCC). There, I received a BS in economics and a minor in computer science and was fortunate enough to study abroad a year in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After NCC, I moved into Chicago and worked as a research analyst for an economic consulting firm that specialized in litigation. While there, I worked as a liaison between the clients and the firm helping families who lost loved ones on 9/11 receive proper wrongful death awards. A year went by and I decided to move up to Milwaukee and begin a graduate program in economics at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I started out the year overseas in Germany studying at Giessen University in Giessen Germany. In 2004, I graduated from UWM and moved up to Wausau. As an instructor, I embrace lifelong learning when I earned my second Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Western Illinois University in 2015 and a third Master’s degree in Sociology in 2017 from Arizona State University. In Fall 2023, I earned additional graduate credits in Political Science from Fort Hays University in Kansas. Lifelong learning is important to me. I’ve been teaching at NTC for 20 years and enjoy my summers (and of course winters!) in north central Wisconsin. So far I’ve kayaked a lot of really great rivers and attempted to play on as many golf courses in the area as possible. In August 2024, I earned my 200-hour Viniyoga teacher certification. Also, I love serving my community as city alder for Wausau District 8. I am married and am loving married life with my husband Matt. Being a fur-mom is important to me and I spoil my two furchildren, Paco (a 5ish year old Chihuahua/Pug mix) and Static (a 5ish year old Blue Heeler).
